15 Cents I'll Never Get Back
I took my own plastic Coles bag to the shops, but habit overcame me & I scanned it through as if it was new.
That's 15 cents I'll never get back.
Look for the ones who sees.
Look for the one who's looking.
Mowing the grass weather.
May you be happy.
May you be free from suffering.
May you have your deepest hopes & dreams for this love realised.
A concrete positive intention for yourself & others.
Czech One
The train’s motion
Untidy echo
And she pants
She asked me why I’m here but I come here every night
Do you need to tell her something?
No I need a place to write
And as the sea of darkness forms and casts us into night
You ask me what her name was called but I found it hard to write
One time I was impaled forlorn and thrown into a pile
I said you know where I’m coming from and she looked me in the eye
Loverboy you drown too quick
You’re fading out of sightIs it the numb density?
Can’t even look her in the eye
Where tiny men have been absorbed for questioning the sky
To when and where the stars were formed, that glance upon this night
Lightyears to sit upon and paint us as we lie
And to think it’s us she’s wasted on, can’t even look her in the eye
See I’ve found a new place to mourn, she asked me who died
Well if there’s a dark uniform, I need a place to hide
As simple as his faith had gone, the burning of the spire
And yet he still searched for warmth but it was cold by the fire
She grips me tight, she grips me tight
But I still rip at the seams
I can’t sleep at night, never slept at night
But she still sits in my dreams
I’m out of sight, so out of sight
But she sees what I see, she’s watching me
She’s still watching me
She still sees what I see
The train’s motion
Untidy echo
The Art of Making Love
This song was with me when I was crying alone in the shower, when I got the call to rush to the hospital to visit my grandfather & when I left his side for the last time. It with me after my break up & the nights when the world was silent & all I could feel was nothing, completely numb. It’s been there for me when I have felt down & out walking around Box Hill trying to make sense of it all. I have huge emotional connection with this song & forever grateful for its existence.
With no label or promotional push this song reached 1,000,000 streams organically. I remember telling Will that this was going to be the song on the album that takes off out of anyone’s control. There’s so much feeling to it, it’s overpowering almost. It makes me so happy to see it get the shine it deserves. Australia is cut throat with its support of its own talent but these boys are the real deal. From Will’s harrowing vocals to Jamie’s breathtaking guitar solo, I really feel this is Big Words own The Great Gig in The Sky.
Love, love, love.
Beautiful Blue Sky
I'm no longer afraid to die
Cause that is all I have left
YES!
YES!
And I'm no longer afraid to dance tonight
Cause that is all I have left
YES!
YES!
Blondie
There are flowers, in my heart. They're growing thorns & it hurts.
10,000 steps a day help keep the negative thoughts at bay.
PS II
Not sure if there's anyone reppin' Melbourne as heavy as Possseshot currently. From the tough bars spat by Mr Muscles & production like no other from KHA, easily one of the best producers in the country, PS II is definitely sizing itself up as an underground classic. From the cover to the music it makes me happy to see & hear the city I'm from being immortalised.
GET THE MONEY UP and TURN NOTHING INTO SOMETHING!
Played this song on repeat my whole uber ride home last night.
Starz
Like most Yung Lean albums 'Starz' took a few listens for it to sink in, you never know what to expect when Jonatan releases a new body of work & this often divides his fanbase. Each new song brings about a change in direction leading you to sounds you may have never experienced before, it's the best & worst thing about his music. Lean in his own lane, a pioneer as he states on Pickachu; "My style ain't got no father like an orphan."
With each listen from start to finish the album has grown on me a lot, whether intentional or not Lean really forces you to spend time with his music. As usual his production is a stand out with his usual collaborators Sherman & whitearmor, the masterminds behind creating the sound of Lean's world.
My favourite tracks from the album (outside of the singles) are; Outta My Head, Starz, Hellraiser, Dogboy, Low & the closing track; Put Me in a Spell. Lean chooses the last few minutes of Starz to be at his most vulnerable, singing softly "I don't want to feel like I'm not worthy...Sometimes you can be cruel & even you tell me."
I Love
Defend me even when the enemy's in fact myself
Showed me love when all I seen was hate
Said I was special, to impress you, wanted to be seen as great
This my kiss and thank you for the unconditional
And though I may not see you as much, I'm always missin' you
Sacrifice was our facts of life
I love
I love
Water
Tryna paint the days of past. Days I never made it past.
Looking for an answer for the questions I'm afraid to ask.
Dolphins
This old world may never change
The way it’s been
And all the ways of war
Can’t change it back again.
I’ve been searchin’
For the dolphins in the sea
And sometimes I wonder
Do you ever think of me?
My favourite song of all time.
Welcome
Howdy, I've become a bit sick of Instagram stories in recent times. I enjoy sharing music & thoughts but it doesn't feel like the right place for me at the moment. Does anyone really care? I feel like I'm adding sand to a beach. When I first started exploring the internet my favourite artists (shout out Ojae) had blogs they would curate with works, thoughts & musical interests. So from now on I'll be putting more of my time into this blog.
Thanks for reading.
